Summertime is the Purr-fect time for community building

With kids home from school, vacation plans underway, and sunshine and warm weather in abundance, summer can be a great time to foster community by attending some of the amazing pet-friendly events across the bay area. We know our pets are adorable - but they are amazing community builders too!

Our pets can lead to building connections and communities, bringing people together in diverse and magical ways. They have an incredible superpower to break barriers and are great conversation starters!

In support of building community, we recently had two wonderful Yappy Hour events hosted by Rootstock Wine Bar - one in Los Gatos and one in Mountain View. Both locations were filled with wine, tail wags and wonderful conversations. Friends came together - both furry and human - to celebrate summer and Sage Compassion for Animals. If you couldn’t join us at Rootstock, never fear! We will be back soon with another way for us to connect, get to know each other and share our mission - maybe over a cold beer next time!

In the meantime, the bay area hosts dozens of pet friendly events each week. Here are a couple sites where you might find something purr-fect for you and your furry family:

Dog Trekker

Do the Bay

Bring Fido

And remember, one of the most significant benefits of pet ownership is its ability to combat social isolation - especially for individuals living alone or the elderly. So when you are out and about with Fluffy, smile and say hello to those you meet. You probably will make someone’s day a whole lot brighter!
